GEORGE MOIBI MOSE - Partner

Moibi is a Co-founder and Partner at Meritad Law Africa LLP. He has practiced law for over Eighteen years.

He is a dynamic legal practitioner and has been of invaluable service to his clientele, including numerous corporations, local and international, on matters pertaining to compliance and government relations. He also has training and certification in Corporate Governance, Organization strategy, Development, and Parastatal Management, as well as Risk Management. Since 2015, Moibi serves as a board member of the Capital Markets Authority.

Moibi has lent his expertise to notable banks and financial institutions in which he plays a role in perfection of securities. He has also undertaken mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring. Moibi’s passion for technology is key in driving the digital disruption agenda within the legal environment and this has seen him work closely with various entities in an effort to shape the next phase of the practice.

A founding member of the Justice Cup, Moibi also enjoys playing and watching football, listening to music and playing chess. Currently consulting at The Laban Opande Lawfirm, Texas US.

Key Milestones.

  • Advised a dairy company on corporate restructuring and acquisition of its shares by a multinational food products corporation.

  • Successfully defended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before the High Court in an election dispute seeking to challenge the validity of the election of the Garissa Senator in 2013 general elections.

  • Advised a Chinese state-owned company in a joint venture contract relating to construction of a terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

  • Acting for Safaricom PLC in property acquisition and lease management for more than ten years.

  • Acting for leading banks and financial institutions including; KCB Bank Kenya Limited and Equity Bank (K) Limited in perfection of securities.

  • Advised and ensured compliance with government relations efforts for various foreign investors seeking to set up in Kenya, immigration matters

    and commercial leases.

  • Advised a real estate investment and private equity company with operations in the East African region in its incorporation; drafting various transactional documents including shareholder’s agreement and ancillary documents.

  • Represented a teacher’s Credit Union in litigation dispute at the cooperative tribunal; successfully prosecuted claims for fraud and embezzlement by its former officials and successfully recovered funds.
